Star Mazda Championship presented by Goodyear - The Series

2010 marks the 20th year of competition for the Star Mazda Championship. The Championship has seen some of the worlds best racers, with past drivers competing in everything from IndyCar to Formula 1 to NASCAR and lots of other professional racing series.

The cars are Open-Wheeled Formula cars featuring a 1,3 Mazda Rotary Renesis engine, producing a whopping 250 BHP at 8,600 RPM. The dry weight of the car is a small 1100 lbs. The power and weight ratio combined with high-end technology features makes Star Mazda an extremely fast car worthy of a strong Championship.

With Street Courses, Oval Tracks as well as Road Course, Star Mazda is one of the most diverse racing series in the world. Star Mazda is a major step in the "Road to Indy" ladder system, consisting of a number of racing series in North America: From Skip Barber the step goes to the U.S. Formula 2000 Championship (Anders won the F2000 Championship Series in 2008). From F2000 the next step is Star Mazda, and the following step is Firestone Indy Lights. The last step on the ladder is the biggest Open-Wheel championship in North America: IZOD IndyCar Series.

Star Mazda have some of the biggest car counts of any open-wheel series, and have drivers from all over world compete. The competition is fierce, and being on top of you game through a varying and busy 13-race schedule is hard. Anders is currently entering his second season in Star Mazda, after having finished 6th in his Rookie season last year with one win to his name.

Andersen Racing - The Team

Anders is back with the team he won his first open-wheel title with, Andersen Racing. Andersen Racing has been a top team since it was started in 2003, and was established by brothers and business partners Dan and John Andersen. Starting out in the Formula 2000 Series, they quickly moved up to Star Mazda, and eventually also expanded to house an Firestone Indy Lights team. Anders Krohn and Andersen Racing dominated and won the F2000 Championship Series in 2008, with 9 wins in 14 races. They are very glad to be back together again, after spending a year apart.

Dan Andersen abot getting Anders back on the team:
“We at Andersen Racing are extremely pleased to welcome Anders Krohn back into the family for 2010. Our experience with Anders in 2008 proved to us what an amazing talent he is, and though circumstances had him racing for another team last season, we remained fans of his, and we are confident that he will bring us many wins while challenging for a championship in 2010. My entire crew wanted Anders back with us, and I am so pleased we could work it all out.”

Director of Driver Development Jonny Baker on Anders:
"It's fantastic that Anders is returning home to Andersen Racing for 2010. I saw a lot of Anders in 2008 when he won the F2000 Championship with us, and I firmly believe he is one of the most promising young talents in North America at present. As always, the Star Mazda Championship will be flooded with intense competition, but you can be sure that Anders and Andersen Racing will be a major factor throughout the season."
